About:
Inspired by the architectural designs of ancient Egypt, our Papyrus Candle Holders have been designed to integrate history with modern functionality.
We drew on the plant themed styles of ancient Egyptian columns, which were carved to resemble tree trunks or bundled plant stems with their tops resembling lotus, palm or Papyrus stems. Though traditionally made from stone, we chose wood as our medium. Our wood carver reduced blocks of wood with traditional tools to a specific scale. He then carved out the dainty details of the circular Papyrus stalks along the wood grain, and rounded out the lotus and palm stems. Finally the structure was hollowed to create room for a taper candle. Once the process was completed for a singular candle holder, it was repeated for another. These candle holders have been months in the making and we’re so excited to finally share them with you.
